My ears are sensitive to cold winds, and I have trouble with ear-muffs staying put--this hat covers my ears just fine! It was a bit snug at first, but after wearing it a few times, it was more comfortable. In fact, I liked it so much, I bought another one. I live and hike in the cold north, so this hat is wonderful for those "blizzard" days!

Yesterday was 10 below 0 and breezy here. Wore this hat to walk my injured horse around a pasture. My ears were warm the whole time. There is double ear protection in this hat - hard to see in the catalog photo - an insulated inside flap as well as the outside fleece. That fleece is long enough in the back to go inside your coat collar so no wind in there, either. Velcro keeps the fleece as snug around your face as you care to have it. The hat itself is quite snug, almost tight. I used the sizing chart and ordered the size suggested. A larger size might not have been so wind-proof.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this hat! I can wear it in the rain and feel completely warm and toasty and protected. Especially like the decent sized brim which is helpful not only for rain but as a sun shield. The insulated lining is SUPER comfortable. If your size is right on the line I would suggest ordering one size up which is what I did and it is perfect!

I was so happy to find this winter hat in a small. It's not too tight or too large and gives the kind of protection one needs when shoveling snow or even when going to work in a blizzard. Now I can better look forward to winter!
