Very impressed with the quality and style of this vest. The outer fabric is pleasant to the touch--it is not rough or scratchy. The front pockets have a soft, comfortable fleece-like fabric lining. Inner fabric is silky yet not flimsy. (My daughter is picky about textures of clothing and it passes her inspection.) This vest is incredibly lightweight.

I am 5'4", 125 lbs. and usually wear a small in tops/size 8 in pants. Though I have purchased Duluth vests/coats in mediums to accomodate layers underneath, I bought a small in this vest based on the reviews here (thank you for the feedback!). My conclusion is this vest runs true to size and is not oversized. A small is just right to fit over my slightly fitted, lightweight polar fleece long-sleeved tee (with a thin, fitted cotton tee underneath the fleece tee). If I want to wear this vest over a bulkier layer, I will need to purchase a medium. The armholes on the small are not too big and gapping, which keeps the appearance very trim/attractive. The hood fits comfortably and doesn't hamper my head/neck movements and my hair won't catch on the material. I really like the longer back hem, too.

This vest is attractive enough to wear *anywhere* and can coordinate with any style of clothing. Another winner, Duluth! Maybe add a vest in a soft pine green color?

Nice vest but way too big

      By River Girl

      from CA

I am 5'9" 130 pounds and take a medium on all shirts, coats etc. but this medium is way too big for me. Have to exchange-just a heads up-but a good vest.

Bought as a Christmas gift for my wife. She loves it - comfortable and functional. Likes the secure pockets so she can leave her handbag behind when we go down to the Strip.

The BEST VEST that I have

        • Layers Easily -- No Bulk
        • Pockets
        • The Hood Is Perfect

        Best Uses

        • Dogwalking
        • Reading on the couch
        • Sheepherding

Yes, this was a bit pricey, but I am considering buying a second one just to have in "reserve". It is really a great vest -- I'll always opt for this one rather than a fleece or down one -- Hay and grass don't stick to this and it dries quickly if it gets wet.

        Great Vest / Too Baggy

        Best Uses

I bought for a daughter who runs a rafting biz and works on a ranch. It's all outdoors, in all seasons, w/ need for protection & flexibility. There's rigging rafts on trailers, driving bus, mechanincs, camp on longer white water runs (pack small & tight), irrigation lines, horse & goat care, wood cutting and more. We have a plethora of 'outdoor' wear outlets, but there's a missing gap between gear for Mtn Sports and Working the Land. Here comes Duluth. This line is sooo much better than Down, so she loved this concept. Yet at a fit 5'7, 135#, usual 6, she swam in size small. This may be made for wearing over bulk, but @ 7k ' alt, in Rockies, we wear leaner layers of fleece or icebreakers. Vest has great amenities, but very large armholes and wide mid section. Has to go back.

          • For Fall Early Winter

I wear this every day it is chilly. It's great for walking, driving, and shopping without a bulky coat. Love the many pockets so I don't lose gloves, keys, or phone. There are no problems. I plan to wear this under a coat when temperatures are colder than November in IA.

I actually suggested to Duluth that they use Cordura for coats last year because firehose coat was great except heavy and attracted pet hair. If horses can't rip cordura then it has to be tough! This vest material is worthy of making in active wear coats and simply lining with polar fleece. It's a GREAT material and unique to Duluth. Nice to see a company willing to do it right!

I really like this vest. I found the size to be true. I'm taller and it was long enough. The color was a little darker than I thought it was online, but the blue is really nice. It is lightweight and warm - what more can you want from a vest?
