Fit is different. I ordered the same size as my Red Wing steel toe boots; the Frye's feel too big at first, the heel felt floppy, but I was afraid going down a half size would mean not enough room in the toe. I kept what I ordered, (9 1/2) walked over 2 miles on gravel roads with them last week and no compliants! I wear them out on the town or running errands. They look great and feel even better! Worth the money, so glad I bought them!

I had tried on a pair of these in size 8 (I usually wear 8), and felt they were too small, so I got these in 8.5, which I feel is a little big. I decided to keep them because I'd rather have them be a little big than a little small. Even though they are a little big in the toe and heel, they are very tight across the top of the foot. After several days of wearing them they have stretched enough that it doesn't bother me so much, but by the end of the day the top of my foot still feels a little bruised. The thing that bothers me the most is on the inside of the seams where the threads end, they poke out and scratch my leg if I'm not wearing tall enough socks or if they fall down too far. This is enough to drive me crazy, so I put a bandaid on the inside of the boots to cover the threads, but that's a pretty hokey fix. I think these look super cute without socks, but this problem is really annoying, and not what I expected in terms of quality from Frye. It's a stupid design flaw to have.

Just spent a busy weekend in Vermont and the boots were terrific! Did a lot of walking and shopping...received many complements. Paired well with jeans and sweater. Breaking in nicely!

I have wanted a pair of Frye boots since I can remember. Finally when I saved up enough, I decided on the mid-calf Engineers. For all of you buying online (I did to save money), I would highly recommend going to a store that sells Frye's (if you can) and try them on to check your size. Depending on the style, the size runs very differently. I went with the Engineers because I have wider feet. They run true to size. At first, it rubbed really hard on the top part of my foot, but after about a week of walking everyday in them, I have broken them in. What a great feeling! I may get some insoles because I tend to get "sole burn" when walking long distances.

But seriously, do not hesitate! They are tough, stylish and you could kick butt in them if you needed to :)

Boots were exactly as described and I loved them.Exactly what I expected. However my left foot is longer and I was not able to put the boot on. Sort of like Cinderella! This was my fault in ordering, so I sent them back and ordered another style in a 1/2 size larger from Duluth; should fit and will considered socks next time I order. You will not be unhappy with these boots! If these do not fit try boots from Duluth with zippers! [...]

I wanted to keep this boots, but I needed something that would keep my feet warmer and be more practical for travel. Since I have several pairs of brown boots similar to these, I elected to return them.

This beautiful boot broke my heart. I couldn't get my foot into it at all. I wanted to, I tried, I didn't give up...until I had to. No matter how hard I tried, my foot would not go into this boot. Those who are lucky enough to get their foot in are without a doubt stylishly, happy campers.
