Women's version is nice but men's version is nicer...

Cons

  • Less pockets than men's versoin
  • Shorter...falls at waist

Best Uses

COMMENTS:

This jacket has 'more style' than the men's version. I am 5'6" and 180 lbs and guess I should have gotten an XL. The L was tight , no additional layers could be added for me, and fell at my waist. The men's large had ample room, fell below my bottom, and had more, accessible pockets. Sleeves on the men's version were a bit long but that is easy to fix. So.. I go for the men's version. Overall both jacket are made well and if you want a more fitted, stylish jacket, then this is the one to get.!

    COMMENTS:

I wear this jacket when I go for fitness walks outside in the winter. It keeps me very warm with only a thin layer underneath. I actually am sweating by the time my walk is over, even on the coldest days. It is indeed windproof, nothing gets through this one! Love it!

      COMMENTS:

This is a super little jacket. It is my grab jacket; I wear it all the time. It's comfy but not too bulky and just right for cool spring weather. Others have complained about the red color, but I love it. It's not fire engine red, but rather the muted red of autumn leaves and blends nicely with a lot of other colors.

Stylish/windproof- but not equal to the Men's version

        COMMENTS:

I bought this jacket to replace a llbean wind challenger fleece I have worn for more than 10 years. I'm medium tall so the added inches means it fits like it suppose to. The zip collar does help keep the cold out. The sleeves are longer as to cover over gloves though some elastic would help keep drafts out. Since I'm tall the sleeve cuff usually land short on most coats and this one does not. We have had snow storms and the windproof fleece has preformed as advertised.

However I opened the Men's Duluth catalog and noticed for the Men's jacket for the same price has three extra working pockets and gussets for arm movement. If I need a work coat for the barn, etc I would buy the Men's. As it is I frequently I shove the critical items into my jacket pockets and go- so two pockets have gloves, phone, wallet, keys and etc. I would love to have the upper chest pocket to tuck my cell phone in. When I rise my arms to about horizontal the jacket starts to lift and a draft gets in despite the elastic draw cord. Gussets like the men's would help.

I know its tough to ride between style and function. Many women may worry about a cell phone bump on the upper chest. I don't. If I worked outside I would buy the mens version. I might wear this one for another ten years like my llbean coat- it is a little more stylish. I also shop at Duluth because I want cloths that function more like the men's not for style.
