4 shirts & Counting

By Loki

from Yakima, WA

Pros

  • Prevents Sunburns
  • Soft
  • Washes and Dries well

Cons

  • none

Best Uses

  • Outdoors

I have 4 armachillo shirts in different colors. I mostly wear them when I ride my Icelandic horse. These are by far the softest uv blocking shirt. I have never burned or tanned even if I am in the sun all day. Recently, I attended the Icelandic horse world championship in Herning, Denmark. These shirts, whether on a cool day with a short sleeved shirt underneath or a warm day without layers, did the job they were intended to do, & washed beautifully in a hotel sink & dried quickly.

Great outdoor shirt

By MC

from GA

Pros

  • Cooking Effect When Damp
  • Great sun protection

Cons

  • Not As Comfortable Indoor
  • Price

Best Uses

  • Gardening
  • Pool Or Ocean Time

I live in GA and am very fair skinned. After several years of living here and not paying enough attention to the sunscreen my skin started to have damage. I really don't like sunscreen, have tried many kinds and none of them feel pleasant on my skin and generally cause my face to break out. Thought I would try this shirt for working in the yard even though I was hesitant about being able to tolerate long sleeves in the GA heat and humidity. It actually worked very well especially if there is a breeze blowing. I took it with me to the beach and wore it all week long when playing with my young nephews in the ocean....that is where it really shined. Once I was wet......completely comfortable even at 100 degrees it keep my skin safe and me pretty cool. At night I rinsed it in the sink and hung it to dry.....ready to go the next day. It does wrinkle but who cares when you working or playing outdoors? I purchased a medium and it fits had I realized I would be wearing it over a bathing suit I might have purchased a large.

Pretty Cool

By Tina B.

from Bellingham, WA

Pros

  • Soft

Cons

  • Clammy

Best Uses

  • Hot-weather Wear

I wear this shirt on hot days, and it's cooler than other tops in my wardrobe. However, I still get menopausal hot flashes while wearing it, When I'm sweating heavily the shirt feels clammy. What I like best about this shirt is its soft, silky feel and light weight. I bought the size that corresponds to my bust measurement, and it fits perfectly in bust and shoulders, but i can't button the last two buttons. I've washed it once, in cold water, and tumbled it dry on the low setting, and it didn't shrink a bit.

A Like/Hate Relationship

By Melissa

from Urbana, IL

Pros

  • Color
  • Fit
  • Style

Cons

  • Tag Irritation

Best Uses

I bought this mostly for work in an office, but also because I walk to/from work and wanted to be warm (long sleeves) inside, but cool ("armachillo") outside. Not sure about the cooling, but I do like the color and style.

However, the tag at the neck causes such irritation, which only begins after I get to work and can't change. I'm afraid I will have to take scissors to the tag.

Loved it so much I bought another one

    By Addicted to Rodeo

    from Batesville, AR

    Pros

    • Drys quick

    Cons

      Best Uses

I spent 5 hours outside working in temps over 100 and very little breeze. I could tell a huge difference between this shirt and the poly and or cotton ones I normally wear. Movement is easy, and it stays tucked in.

        Nice shirt, but won't breathe

        By Iowa Barb

        from Iowa

        Pros

        • Great Look Beautiful Fit

        Cons

        • Shirt Won't Breathe

        Best Uses

I bought these shirts to wear to work outside in the hot sultry weather in Iowa. I'm a photographer and do lots of work in fields and wildlife areas. The shirts are great if you don't get too hot, but once you get hot they don't seem to breathe. Please try to fix this and maybe make the shirt in a cotton material

          Exactly what I needed

          By GoGophers

          from Minnesota

          Pros

          • Great Fit and Feel
          • lightweight and sturdy
          • Nice colors
          • Nice long sleeves
          • Vents In Back

          Cons

            Best Uses

            • Biking
            • Casual wear
            • Hiking

I bought this shirt at the retail store and good thing as I'm between a M and L. I chose the L to fit my upper arms and glad I did, it's a little loose in the torso but I love the way it feels. I can move freely, biking, hiking, or doing outdoor work, it just feels great. I get tired of wearing t-shirts and tanks so this will be a welcome change. Sleeves are a little longer than usual which is great but I roll them up. Nice summer shirt and will work with layers this fall. Looks great with cargo hiking shorts. I bought all three clearance colors, they're very nice!

            Everything works as advertised!

            By misangela

            from Atlanta GA

            Pros

            • Provides sun protection
            • Tough material
            • Wicks sweat

            Cons

            • A Little Pricey
            • Only Comes In Plaid

            Best Uses

            • Yard Work

I live in Atlanta GA and it is HOT! I do not enjoy wearing sunscreen, so the long sleeves are perfect for my pale Irish skin! The shirt is vented in back and really does wick away the (gallons of) sweat when I'm doing yard work. My husband tried it out and he wants one, too! :) Yes, these shirts are PRICEY at reg price, but I bought one of the clearance colours and I absolutely LOVE IT.

            Stinks. Literally.

            By Kerry O

            from Brooklyn, NY

            Pros

              Cons

                Best Uses

I wore this shirt once and it reeked of underarm odor like no other item of clothing I have ever owned. Febreze was powerless against it. Needed to spot-treat with special detergent. Not what I expected in an expensive shirt with odor protection. I'm keeping it because it doesn't seem to wrinkle and I'm lazy.
