COMMENTS:

The smaller outside zipper stitching came loose after a few months. When I sent it back for a new one, it only took a week, and I was pleased!
I have 4 Duluth bags, and I use them at home, when I teach my outdoor art,and when I travel to paint. I love how they soften with age and hold up. In fact, many people in my class got the Messenger. This little pack holds just enough gear to go draw and paint, in any weather. I like to wear it cross body, and as a backpack.

    COMMENTS:

I reeeeaaallly wanted to love this bag. When I first picked it up in the store, I adored the strap conversion (it's very hard to find a design that is both simple and effective; usually bags with this type of conversion have the problem of the entire strap sliding out on one side due to the weight of the bag, making it difficult to put on both shoulders. This one doesn't do that, and also doesn't require any unclipping/switching straps around. Just grab and go!) But two things made me return it--no drop pocket in the back, which is where I usually keep my phone for secure but easy access, and it's also very difficult to get into one-handed. Both of those things are dealbreakers for me, particularly since I was spoiled by their oil-cloth flap messenger bag with the zipper on the top for easy access.

I also had concerns about security in a crowd, and ended up really missing the credit card slots Duluth puts in its other bags. I don't want to have to get a wallet if I can help it, as that just adds to the weight and inconvenience factor.

Overall, it would be a great bag for some, and there was a lot about it that I liked, but for that price I needed to love it and didn't. I ended up returning it and sticking with my trusty Duluth oil cloth sling bag.

        COMMENTS:

I have owned this bag for years! Just bought a second one in the other color. I am thinking of having one dyed black. All other bags have been supplanted by this one. I used to have a different purse for every outfit, now I carry just this one. More closet space now...consider that a bonus! It is the best bag I have ever owned or seen for convenience, style, versatility. My i-Pad fits well in the designated pocket with room for a small journal or book as well. The large main compartment is huge and small things could get lost into the bottom. I have solved that minor problem by using a zipper pouch (you know, like you are supposed to use for make-up) to keep all of my little necessaties in like a nail file, clippers, lip balm, whatever. That and my wallet and my glasses case are all that need to go into the big compartment leaving loads of space for snacks and a book if I am travelling. The smaller zipper pocket outside the main compartment is a secure place for phone, keys and earbuds. The open front pocket is where I stuff quick retrieval items like tissues and where I stuff receipts until I get home. As I said earlier I have used this bag for years, everyday! I have had no pocket frays or tears, no thread pops or seams coming open, in fact no construction problems at all! It is easy to convert from shoulder bag to backpack, which I do everytime I go to the grocery store. I use it across body when I want hands free, but don't want it falling off my shoulder or sticking out in the back as in antique stores. I cannot think of anything I would add or change on this bag. As far as I am concerned it is perfect! Buy one in every color!!!!! (Okay, maybe I would add more basic color options like black and navy, but I haven't found that to be essential :)

        COMMENTS:

I was really excited about this bag. I bought this bag in march 2017 to use as a carry on for some travels I had coming up but when I got it I started using it for everyday use. For awhile it was working great but recently the inside pocket seams are ripping. This bag was to expensive for a bag to fall apart that quickly. I would not recommend anyone buying this bag because your not getting the long lasting quality that people are lookin for.

Lifetime Leather Convertible Messenger Bag switches from shoulder bag to backpack. Either way, the oiled leather will gain character with age.
