Rachelle
Laugh it up, working or not — and everything's a joy.
Rachelle will tell anyone that listens
that it's important to love what you do
"I was born to work with the land and the animals. There is no other explanation. I am here to help people and to help them connect to the land and the animals one small step at a time."
And Rachelle does just that.
She's built her life around it, and she started young. As a kid, she provided a refuge for the helpless — the wild, lost, stray or injured animals. She'd bring them home, and with love and determination she'd nurse them back to health.
She does the same today;
helping animals heal and thrive, as a vet tech.
Rachelle also keeps her connection with the land, animals and people as a horse-riding instructor, produce farmer for her Old Stage Vegetable Gardens, family-woman and friend. And with so much to juggle, she prioritizes what's to be done for the day, keeping an "open and bendable" frame of mind — knowing that anything can change in the blink of an eye.
Roxie starred in Rachelle's instructional video.
She's also starred in Rachelle's life
as a best friend and teaching partner.
Agility in mind and motion
guides Rachelle with her horse training
and giving lessons, too.
As a vet tech student with much more horse experience than her peers, Rachelle recognized a need among her classmates that she could answer. She saw a lack of knowledge of how horses react when they are injured or even just agitated by veterinary procedures, and she created an instructional DVD on horse awareness and safety that was published and is now used in the program that she graduated from.
with yoga — and humor on a haystack.
For Rachelle, that was a proud achievement
and a full-circle accomplishment.
It was also a life-consuming endeavor.
Today, she focuses on day-to-day achievements, like helping one horse and one person at a time, doing the daily work of running a produce business with her husband and reaching milestones with her precocious daughter Lilly. She's in it for the long haul, too. She's "trying to make a difference for someone everyday, all while staying balanced."
And when Rachelle's asked if this is the life that she saw for herself, she answers without hesitation, "I am definitely living the life that I expected." And what a life it is.
